At our clinic, we perform a wide range of orthopedic surgeries to address bone-related issues in dogs and cats. While we handle many orthopedic procedures in-house, we occasionally refer patients to board-certified orthopedic surgeons for complex surgeries, such as back surgery, to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Leg fractures are among the most common orthopedic issues we see, often resulting from accidents involving automobiles. Treatment options for fractures vary depending on the location and severity. For some fractures, we can apply a cast to immobilize the bone and allow it to heal. However, many fractures require surgical intervention.

One surgical method is "pinning," where a long stainless steel rod is inserted into the bone to stabilize the fracture. Another technique, known as "plating," involves attaching a stainless steel plate to the bone with screws on either side of the fracture. In cases where external support is needed, we use "external fixation," which stabilizes the fracture with a series of pins that pass through the skin into the bone on either side.

In addition to fracture repair, we frequently perform orthopedic surgeries to address conditions such as hip dysplasia and disc disease. These procedures can significantly improve your furry friend's mobility and quality of life. If you have any questions about these surgeries or believe your animal companion might benefit from them, please don't hesitate to contact us.
